Have you ever been starving but had no idea what you want to eat? Sometimes there’s just too many options. Well, Munchies is here to help! Designed to help the “IDKers,” Munchies is a fun and simple mobile application that, with a few short questions, will find your next meal.

The focus of Munchies

As someone who frequently has no idea where I would like to go for dinner, I decided it would be a fun project to take on an app that helps solve this problem (and make it cute). The focus of this project was to hone my wireframing and prototyping skills in Figma.

After creating MUSE, a sleek and moody app, I wanted to try going for a completely different design. Inspired by the color palette in the YouTube/Netflix series Bee and Puppycat (pictured), I was eager to experiment with pastels.

Paper and Low-fidelity Wireframes

Before I could start making it look pretty, I needed to create the general layouts and prototype of the screens. I started with my trusty paper wireframes before moving on to Figma. Doing so helped me, as always, identify key features and potential user pain points that I would like to work through in my designs. With these considerations in mind, I moved on to the digital low-fidelity wireframes.

I ended up creating a low-fidelity prototype in Figma that I could send to some friends for testing. They provided some helpful feedback about the flow of the application and I was able to take my findings and move on to the high-fidelity digital prototypes.

High-fidelity Digital Wireframes and Prototype

I wanted Munchies to feel fun and bubbly - like a game. The color palette is an array of soft pinks and purples, broken up by white. The font is a beautiful handwritten display font called Clap Hand, by Khurasan, which fit perfectly for the look that I was going for.

To give it a bit of my flare, I designed and illustrated Miss Munchie, the app’s mascot, and a loading salad for the loading screen, further adding to the cute design. I kept the copy casual and friendly, and after all was said and done, all of these elements came together into an adorable, yet helpful, mobile application.
